Dodge Nature Center Field Trip

We had a blast searching for bats in the forest, picked pumpkins in a pumpkin patch, and jumped in hay! Enjoy!

Notes: For the next two weeks our theme is Community Helpers, pumpkins, and Halloween. Feel free to send something in for show and tell that is related to these concepts. Thanks! Have a super week ahead!

TAKING A PEEK AT THE WEEK....

Theme: Pets/Pet store

Language Experiences:

  • Make animal/pet creatures out of play dough
  • Learn about the Veterinarian's job and act it out
  • Make puppy chow
  • Make dog bone puppies/dogs
  • Review Fall vocabulary and "pick" apples (to demonstrate at upcoming conference)
Vocabulary (The students will be exposed to the following vocabulary words throughout the week. However, they will only be expected to learn up to 10 words expressively.) Here is the vocabulary for this week and the three days next week: cat/kitten, dog/puppy, bunny rabbit, snake, turtle, mouse, monkey, frog, cry, carry, drive, brush, lick, fish bowl, veterinarian (animal doctor), pet store, hamster, lizard, spider, cage, whiskers, tail, parrot

Notes: Please have your child bring a stuffed animal of their choice for our pet show on Monday, October 12. Also, please sign up for conferences on the sheet outside my door if you haven't already. Available dates are: November 5th, 12th, and 19th. Thanks! Have a super weekend!

Language Experiences:

  • Read "The Three Little Pigs"

  • Make apple sauce

  • Read "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"

  • Make graham cracker houses


  • Field trip to Dodge Nature Center: "Apples"

    Vocabulary (The students will be exposed to the following vocabulary words throughout the week. However, they will only be expected to learn up to 10 words expressively.): see vocabulary on last weeks "Peek at the Week", bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, squirrel, pumpkin, rake, acorn, corn, scarecrow, apple seed, cracker, cookie, T.V., door, bathtub, knife, pizza, hotdog, strawberry, hamburger

Note: Next week our theme is "Pets." Please have your child bring in a stuffed animal "pet" that we can use for various experiences next week. Thanks! Reminder: Field trip tomorrow (friday)!
